1. Why did you join ABSA?

I heard about ABSA from some of my close friends and decided to check it out. Although I felt a bit intimidated by the panel and the size of the organization initially, everyone I met made me feel so welcomed. Even though I was just a lost and confused freshman, the upperclassmen genuinely wanted to make me feel at home and were very willing to offer me advice on just about anything. Going to such a large university, I was scared about not being able to find a place I belonged. However, ABSA quickly became a home away from home for me.

2. What is your favorite ABSA memory?

There are so many to choose from. For me, it would be having a hangout in Dallas with my entire branch during the Winter Break. We were able to walk around downtown, visit the Dallas Museum of Art, and just spend some time together outside of Austin! Not only were we able to catch up with each other but also bond and grow closer as a branch. While I enjoyed working with my branch throughout the semesters, this was one of our only opportunities to step away from everything and just enjoy one another’s company.

3. What’s your favorite thing about UT Austin?

My favorite thing about UT Austin is the different courses, majors, and opportunities it offers. You are offered so many resources that can help you figure out what you would like to learn more about and pursue. Personally, I have been able to take various classes to explore my interests in entrepreneurship, public policy, and history. Through doing so, I was able to explore areas that I am usually not exposed to in my business classes and hone a different set of skills. So definitely take advantage of this opportunity!

4. If you could give one piece of advice to your freshman self, what would it be?

Don’t stress about having it all figured out! Take some time and try new things; you never know what you will end up liking. College is the perfect time to go outside your comfort zone and be adventurous. Even though others might seem to have it all figured out, remember to focus on yourself. There is only one you in the world, so don’t try to be like anyone else.

5. What is your dream job?

It would probably be a travel blogger. Ever since I was a small child, I have loved travelling and learning about different cultures. By being a travel blogger, I would be paid to do what I love and share amazing places across the world with new people.

6. What’s your favorite TV Show/Movie/etc?

  • Big Bang Theory

  • Jeopardy!

  • Schitt’s Creek

  • Parks and Recreation

  • Forrest Gump

  • Slumdog Millionaire

7. What is one thing that you love about yourself?

I would say my laugh! Even though it can be a bit loud and overbearing at times, it never fails to make my day better. With how stressful school can be, a good laugh helps me stay positive and motivated to tackle all that life throws at me.

8. Name the top five things on your bucket list

  1. Backpack across Europe

  2. Skydive or Bungee Jump (but I’m secretly scared of heights)

  3. Be fluent in 5 languages

  4. Master a sport (not super picky which one)

  5. Appear on Jeopardy! (and hopefully win)
