1. Why did you join ABSA?

I met our current President, Andrew Kwak, through tabling, and he told me about the fun and professional events where I could have the chance to connect with fellow students and with company representatives. He also told me about the leadership opportunities that I could pursue in ABSA. Overall, ABSA was the perfect organization for me, both socially and professionally. Particularly, the External Branch stood out to me since I had done a lot of volunteering in the past: it felt familiar to me. I have met so many great members and friends, and I’ve gained a lot of experience.

2. What is your favorite ABSA memory?

While I haven’t experienced ABSA in person, I had a great time at hosting our Dare an Officer event. It was so fulfilling to see our members come out for charity, and it was lots of fun seeing our officers do crazy dares like cracking eggs on their head or drinking a smoothie with disgusting ingredients. While hosting the event, I also realized how far I have come as a director, and I was proud of the External Branch for pulling off such a great event.

3. What’s your favorite thing about UT Austin?

The people! Even though I haven’t been to campus a lot this year, everyone that I have come across through Zoom calls has been more than happy to accommodate online students. The events that I have gone to were still lots of fun, and the professors that I had were always willing to have extra office hours or answer my questions.

4. If you could give one piece of advice to your freshman self, what would it be?

Don’t dwell on things you can’t change. Focus on what you can change and how you can do better so that you don’t fail again. Even if you do fail, you fail to succeed!

5. What is your dream job?

A house flipper. I love watching HGTV and judging houses that I know I couldn’t afford myself. It’s a lot of fun seeing the transitions and seeing the trends in housing styles.

6. What’s your favorite TV Show/Movie/etc?

I have a weird range of favorite shows and movies. Some shows that I love are Haikyuu, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and WandaVision. As for movies, I love High School Musical (1, 2, and 3!) and The Farewell.

7. What is one thing that you love about yourself?

From my experiences and extracurriculars, I have learned to cater towards other people. With that said, I have become good at seeing things from others’ perspectives. I have practiced this skill so much that it’s second nature to me!

8. Name the top five things on your bucket list

  1. Become an extra in a movie/TV show

  2. Go to Asia

  3. Participate in a triathlon

  4. Learn embroidery

  5. Ski down a double black diamond slope
